About E. Baque
One day I took a walk, unsure of what direction to take in my art, my life, and I saw him. I’d been mumbling to myself, it seems. I’d had art shown around the world, licenses to major companies and a big agency. Still, something was missing. What did I want to do with my life? When I met the Fairy Godfather I can tell you my surprise was incredible. An odd, tall man in blue glamour and a top hat, sitting high in a tree by a glistening cove. But when he smiled I remember I’d met him before as a child, and he and his odd band of friends and fairytale stories were where my happiness lay.
Art is about self discovery and expression, even “fantasy art” and illustration. I found the more I began to write and draw the Fairy Godfather, his brother, the Vampire, Uncle Pansy, Waterlily the little fish maid and all the characters, the happier I became and the more I learned about myself as well. But, of course, in reality I didn’t have so much a Fairy Godfather as a wonderful, supportive husband who, no matter what, repeated to me: “do what you want to do.”
I can’t say more than what’s already been said, by one of my favorite Authors, Antoine de Saint Exupéry, from The Little Prince: Voici mon secret. Il est très simple: on ne voit bien qu’avec le cœur. L’essentiel est invisible pour les yeux– Here is my secret. It is very simple: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.
Thank you for visiting, I hope you enjoy my art and my stories as much as I enjoy creating them.

I want to give a special thank you to my wonderful friends who have acted as models, inspirations and shoulders to babble on– as I often do. And especially to Alex, who gave me the gift of art again after I’d long given it up.
I dedicate this new site to Val Richardson, a dear friend who recently lost her battle to cancer. Rik and Val have been my biggest supporters, patrons and friends since Alex and I first started this site 10 years ago. I am so lucky to have had the honor to know them both.
